I think for all intents and purposes they already have.
This new lead-grey lump of a bible is nothing more than a prop, comes in handy when they need to claim they're a 'proper' religion.
is it just me or is the wts increasingly just becoming more about watchtower propaganda.
every week it seems to be about killing your children over blood transfusions or worshipping the magical men in brooklyn or the loving provision of shunning or the magical power of the elders or some brother in far off land who is in jail because he cant stop handling out magazines he doesnt understand to people who dont want them.
try and get a jw to explain the gospels or the book of the romans and what was significant about the book of acts...........................no clue.

i've been reading many of the postings on this forum for a couplefew years, finally joined today.
i think reading cappytan, and others like that, compelled me to share, it seems i might have a bit of a different outcome than many i have read, perhaps it will be hopeful/helpful to someone.. i was a born-in, 3rd gen jw, my entire family (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and most all of my childhood friends) were in.
some dropped by the wayside as the years went on, but many stayed in, and if they didn't, they still acted/talked as if they believed it was "the truth" and it was their weaknesses/failings that made them stop attending.
I like your style AFreeBeliever :) WT's methods and actions rip the spirituality out of so many people. But despite what some foot-stamping athiests will assert, it's perfectly ok to seek it out again with a critical eye.
this is how robert ingersoll responded to a fundamentalist's question, 'what if it's the truth?
' back in the 19th century.
"why," they say to me, "suppose all this should turn out to be true, and you should come to the day of judgement and find all these things to be true.
i was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.
this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.
it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.
Nope, definitely an issue in the UK too. At the last circuit assembly I attended about 4 years ago we had an idiot of an overseer blast HE for his entire talk, explicitly stating that enrolling at a university was grounds for disfellowshipping.
A friend called HQ to confirm this and was told it was NOT grounds, but all those who heard this moron say that it was took it as gospel and labelled checking with WT as murmuring!
So the vogue in my area is very much anti-HE :(

what is wrong with these people?!.
That is one deliriously happy plane DD :)
Flight jw1914 is so atrociously delayed that its passengers idle around in the departure lounge as it's renovated around them time and time again.
Then over the tannoy Kingdom Airways constantly remind everyone that the alternative train service is owned and run by Beelzebub Railways so better just sit tight...
Huh, this metaphor nonsense is fun!
the new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.
first, the reason i think it should be shown:.
I think LoveUni was just channelling his inner Prince Harry :/

Teehee LUHE, now you need to prepare to be inundated by jw meanies!
Some posters asking for it to be an option seem to be confused by its purpose, making it optional would render it redundant!
We need to get back to what matters most, namely, I want a pirate flag! Gimme gimme!

ok, so the time has finally come to register an account on this site.
not that i think i have much to contribute to the discussions here, but more out of a desire to show that yet another person has learned ttatt.
i am a fader, not discussing ttatt with anyone as i know the inevitable outcome it would have.
Hi LMR, great to read your first post!
The fact that you came here for the occasional KM and weren't 'ensnared' by hideous venom spitting apostates, but were later driven back by the organisation's own twisted teachings fascinates me, as I did the same. It's not 'apostate lies' that WT fear us reading on the interwebs, it's well-researched facts and flawless reasoning!
Slowly acclimatising to life without a JW belief system is a humbling experience, you seem calm and collected about taking your time with new ideas, which is a super healthy attitude to have :)
All the best in your journey!
